Camping with kids? What a treat! The newly renovated pool area at Caloundra Big 4 is awesome! The lagoon pool overlooks the Pumicestone Passage and features 2 awesome waterslides, you can easily spend hours here relaxing on the sun lounges while the kids play. And only a 1hr drive from North Brisbane, it is an easy weekend getaway for locals!
Camping
All sites at Caloundra Big 4 have power and water and will cost you $90 p/n unless you choose a "waterfront" creek site which are $99 p/n. There are also lots of cabins available if you'd prefer. Check in is 11am - Check Out 10am. The park has beautiful gardens that will only get better as they mature. The amenities were clean and close by to our site C39. This was a great corner site very close to the pool and jumping pillow.
The park has live music around the pool area and a Pizza food van operating on Friday & Saturday early evenings. There is a coffee van on site in the mornings also.
Things to do
Being situated right on the banks of the Pumicestone Passage, with great pathways either direction to Bulcock/Kings Beach or Golden Beach, you have plenty of options to pass the time. Don't forget the kids bikes or scooters (like we did!)
It took approximately 20mins to walk around to Kings Beach where you can swim in the surf. The kids enjoyed exploring all the rock pools here at low tide.
There are so many restaurants and cafes to choose from and lots of shops to browse, all in walking distance.
Happy Valley (in-between Kings & Bulcock Beaches) has a great playground and picnic area (Clarke Place Park) which overlooks the surf. You'll find the Happy Turtle food van here also with amenities close by.
The passage is a great spot for all water activities so enjoy a kayak or paddleboard or throw a line in! The waterfront sites would be ideal if you're into these as you could launch straight from your site. Otherwise, there is a little ramp straight out the gate.
Caloundra Big 4 will not disappoint, the lagoon pool being the highlight but it is in a great location if you're wanting to explore. If you're anything like us and thinking about your next trip, check out our blog How to decide on your next Camping Destination.
